CM Yogi Adityanath Hails PM Modi’s Farmer-Centric Move: Rs37,952 Crore Nutrient Based Subsidy Approved for Rabi 2025–26

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed the Centre’s ₹37,952 crore nutrient-based subsidy for Rabi 2025–26, saying the move will make quality fertilisers affordable and strengthen rural prosperity.

CM Yogi Adityanath: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has applauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s latest agricultural initiative, describing it as a “farmer-first” decision aimed at empowering India’s rural heartland. The Uttar Pradesh leader was referring to the Union Cabinet’s approval of a fresh ₹37,952.29 crore nutrient-based subsidy (NBS) for phosphatic and potassic (P&K) fertilisers for the Rabi 2025–26 season.

In a post on X, Adityanath wrote that under the visionary guidance of PM Modi, the Cabinet has cleared the revised Nutrient Based Subsidy rates for the period between October 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026. He noted that this year’s allocation represents an increase of nearly ₹736 crore compared to the previous Kharif season , a clear signal of the Centre’s continuing commitment to stabilising input costs for farmers.

“This farmer-centric decision by the Prime Minister strengthens India’s resolve towards Aatmanirbhar Krishi and prosperous villages,” Adityanath posted, adding that such initiatives highlight the government’s consistent efforts to secure the livelihoods of millions of cultivators across the nation.

Boost to Affordable Inputs and Rural Prosperity

The Chief Minister explained that the decision would ensure a steady supply of key fertilisers like DAP and NPKS at affordable prices throughout the rabi season. Rising international raw material costs have pushed fertilizer prices higher globally, but India’s policy intervention is designed to shield farmers from those shocks.

“By maintaining price stability and ensuring quality supply, this step will help farmers plan their crops better and focus on productivity rather than worrying about cost escalation,” Adityanath said in his message.

Wider Economic Impact

The ₹37,952 crore allocation under the NBS scheme will primarily be used to subsidise imported raw materials and domestic manufacturing costs for P&K fertilisers. By absorbing much of this burden, the Centre aims to prevent retail price hikes that could otherwise hit small and marginal farmers the hardest.

A Step Toward “Aatmanirbhar Krishi”

The announcement comes at a time when the government’s focus on Aatmanirbhar Bharat is extending deeply into rural India. Yogi Adityanath, whose state is a major contributor to national food production, said the subsidy aligns perfectly with that vision. “When farmers get timely and affordable fertilisers, they don’t just grow crops , they grow confidence,” he stated.

With this approval, India reaffirms its intent to make agriculture not only productive but also self-reliant, sustainable, and future-ready.
