Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath highlighted the state government’s rural digital library initiative, saying modern educational resources are increasingly becoming accessible to students and young people in villages.

CM Yogi Adityanath Highlights Digital Library in Bahraich Village

In a social media post on Monday, Adityanath referred to a digital library established at the Gram Panchayat Secretariat in Khasaha Mohammadpur village of Tejwapur block in Bahraich district. He said the facility is helping reduce the need for rural students to travel to cities for books, competitive examination preparation and other educational resources.

The digital library brings traditional study materials and modern technology together under one roof. According to the Chief Minister, the facility has computers, printers, high-speed internet, Wi-Fi, a smart television and CCTV cameras.

The library also provides books for competitive examinations along with literature from the National Book Trust. Students can therefore access both physical study material and digital educational content within their village.

Adityanath said the availability of these facilities closer to students is helping children and young people spend more time studying instead of travelling to cities. He added that students are using the facility for e-learning and preparation for competitive examinations.

Digital Libraries Expanded Across Uttar Pradesh

The Chief Minister also highlighted the broader expansion of digital education infrastructure across Uttar Pradesh. According to his post, before 2017, e-library facilities were available at around 76 locations at the state and district levels. The government now says digital libraries have reached 57,600 gram panchayats across the state.

The post also stated that nearly 60 lakh young people have been provided smartphones and tablets as part of efforts to expand access to digital education.

In addition, more than 32,000 schools in Uttar Pradesh have smart classrooms, while over 15,000 schools have Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratories, according to the figures shared by the Chief Minister.

Government Highlights Earlier Gaps in Education Resources

Adityanath also referred to previous gaps in the availability of educational resources. According to the figures cited in his post, despite the availability of adequate government funds between 2012 and 2016, around 6.22 lakh children did not receive textbooks and nearly 97 lakh children did not receive uniforms.

The Chief Minister contrasted these figures with the expansion of educational infrastructure and digital resources in the state, arguing that Uttar Pradesh has made progress in improving both the availability and accessibility of education-related resources.
