Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath highlighted the state’s healthcare development since 2017, citing an increase in medical colleges, expanded MBBS seats and wider access to health insurance schemes. He said the state government, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is working towards making Uttar Pradesh healthier, more capable and self-reliant.
In a social media post, Adityanath presented the expansion of medical education and healthcare coverage as key indicators of the transformation in the state’s health sector.
Uttar Pradesh Medical Colleges Increase from 36 to 85: CM Yogi Adityanath
According to the Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh had 36 medical colleges in 2017, while the number has now increased to 85. He said the expansion reflects the government’s focus on strengthening medical infrastructure across the state.
Adityanath referred to the vision of “One District, One Medical College”, saying the state is moving towards improving healthcare access and establishing medical education facilities across more districts.
MBBS Seats Increase to More Than 13,600
The Chief Minister also highlighted the rise in MBBS seats, which he said have increased from 4,690 in 2017 to more than 13,600.
The expansion is intended to provide more opportunities for students pursuing medical education and help strengthen the availability of trained healthcare professionals. Increased medical college capacity can also support access to treatment by expanding healthcare infrastructure and services.
Ayushman Bharat and Chief Minister’s Health Scheme Cover Over 10 Crore People
Adityanath said more than 10 crore people in Uttar Pradesh are covered under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Abhiyan.
He said these schemes help eligible beneficiaries access treatment for serious illnesses while reducing the financial burden associated with healthcare expenses. The government has presented health coverage as an important part of its efforts to improve health security and ensure greater dignity for families facing medical needs.
Yogi Adityanath Emphasises Accessible and Affordable Healthcare
The Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh has moved beyond the shortcomings of its pre-2017 healthcare system and is working to make quality treatment more accessible to people closer to their homes.
