Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has highlighted his government’s initiatives for women’s safety, dignity and economic independence, claiming that the state has made progress in expanding opportunities for women since 2017.

In a social media post on October 11, 2026, Adityanath said the state had moved from what he described as an “unrest-ridden state” to a state of celebration under the BJP’s double-engine government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance. He emphasised women’s growing participation in the workforce, entrepreneurship and economic activity.
Yogi Adityanath Cites Increase in Women’s Workforce Participation
Adityanath claimed that women’s workforce participation in Uttar Pradesh had increased from 12% to more than 36%. He presented the rise as evidence of growing confidence among women and expanding employment opportunities across the state.
The Chief Minister also claimed that women were leading more than 50% of startups in Uttar Pradesh. He said women were increasingly contributing to the state’s economy, including by working night shifts.
Reflecting on the situation before 2017, Adityanath said many women had faced difficulties even when leaving their homes. He argued that improvements in safety and access to opportunities had enabled more women to pursue employment and professional ambitions.
