CM Yogi Adityanath Inaugurates ‘Gorakhpur Book Festival’, Emphasizes Libraries in Every School

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Gorakhpur Book Festival at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University on November 1, 2025, highlighting the importance of books and reading culture in building an educated society.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister shared that under the Basic Education Council, over 1.56 lakh schools are currently operational across the state. Out of these, 1.36 lakh schools have been rejuvenated under the ‘Operation Kayakalp’ initiative — a flagship program aimed at improving infrastructure, sanitation, and learning conditions in government schools.

He further announced that every school under this initiative will have its own library, ensuring that students develop a strong reading habit and gain access to knowledge beyond textbooks. “Along with academic reforms, it is equally important to nurture curiosity and creativity in children. A school without a library is incomplete,” said CM Yogi Adityanath.

The Chief Minister emphasized that education is the foundation of a strong and self-reliant nation. Through continuous efforts like Operation Kayakalp, the state government aims to make primary education in Uttar Pradesh both modern and inclusive.

The Gorakhpur Book Festival, inaugurated by CM Adityanath, aims to promote literary awareness, encourage reading habits among students, and honor writers and publishers contributing to Hindi and regional literature. The event features book exhibitions, author interactions, and cultural sessions that celebrate Uttar Pradesh’s literary heritage.

Concluding his address, CM Yogi remarked that initiatives like the Book Festival and school library drives are vital in transforming Uttar Pradesh into a knowledge-driven society, where education empowers every child to dream, learn, and lead.
