CM Yogi Adityanath: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday inaugurated the fifth phase of ‘Mission Shakti’, a flagship initiative dedicated to women’s safety, dignity, and self-reliance. The event was held in Lucknow, where he also unveiled several new measures under the campaign.
As part of the program, Mission Shakti centers were inaugurated in 1,647 police stations across the state. These centers will serve as one-stop support facilities for women, offering counseling, assistance, and help in cases of harassment or violence. Alongside this, the Chief Minister released Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) booklets to ensure systematic and effective functioning of these centers.
In his remarks, CM Yogi highlighted that the campaign has brought about visible positive change. “‘Mission Shakti’ has ensured safety and respect for our mothers and sisters while empowering them to walk the path of self-reliance. The results are clearly evident across Uttar Pradesh,” he said, extending his best wishes to women across the state.
Background of Mission Shakti
Launched in October 2020, Mission Shakti was envisioned as a comprehensive program to safeguard women and promote gender equality. The campaign not only focuses on strict action against crimes targeting women but also on creating an enabling environment for their economic and social empowerment. Previous phases included awareness drives, formation of women help desks at police stations, and the establishment of helpline numbers like 1090 and 181.

The fifth phase emphasizes institutional support through dedicated centers at police stations, strengthening the state’s resolve to provide women with immediate access to justice and safety. The SOP booklets will guide police and administrative officials in handling cases more sensitively and effectively, ensuring uniform implementation across districts.

The Chief Minister underscored that women’s empowerment is at the core of the state’s development roadmap. He added that self-reliant women are the foundation of a self-reliant state and nation. By integrating security, respect, and financial independence, the government aims to boost women’s participation in every sphere of society.
