As per the announcement, over 9 lakh farmers of the state of Uttar Pradesh will benefit from an agri-input subsidy worth ₹ 493 crore. The subsidy has been provided to farmers to cover expenses incurred on various farming operations on account of natural calamities.

The financial assistance is intended to help relieve some of the stress resulting from crop destruction and to enable farmers to access the inputs to keep farming.

DBT Assistance to Reach Farmers Affected by Crop Losses

The subsidy will be provided via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism which facilitates the transfer of subsidies directly to the bank accounts of the eligible beneficiaries. This transfer will allow farmers experiencing hardship following weather-related damage to crops. The financial transfer might enable the identified recipient to plan an outlay of funds for the future expenses of farming.
