CM Yogi Adityanath Slams Divisive Politics, Draws Historical Parallels

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday intensified his criticism of leaders and groups attempting to divide society on caste, regional, or linguistic lines. Calling such actions a modern-day reflection of the betrayals of Jaichand and Mir Jafar, the Chief Minister said that those promoting division are repeating the same “historic sins” that once weakened the nation from within.

Addressing the gathering, Adityanath stressed that India’s strength lies in its social unity and cultural cohesion. He noted that efforts to fragment communities not only distort public discourse but also hinder the nation’s long-term developmental agenda.

Chief Minister further said that Uttar Pradesh has consistently chosen the path of stability

The Chief Minister further said that Uttar Pradesh has consistently chosen the path of stability and collective progress. “Our government is committed to building an environment where every citizen—irrespective of caste, region, or language—feels empowered and included,” he added, highlighting the state’s recent strides in infrastructure, welfare schemes, and law-and-order reforms.

He also urged citizens to remain vigilant against politically motivated narratives designed to create mistrust among communities. According to Adityanath, divisive politics tends to escalate during election seasons, where emotional issues are amplified to distract from real progress and governance.

Political observers see the remarks as part of a broader message aimed at reinforcing the BJP-led government’s stand on national unity at a time when identity-based politics is gaining renewed momentum across several states. Analysts say the Chief Minister’s comparison to historical traitors signals the seriousness with which the government views such attempts.

The statement has also sparked reactions from opposition circles, who argue that concerns around caste and regional disparities are legitimate issues requiring dialogue, not dismissal. However, supporters of the Chief Minister maintain that his message is a timely reminder that social harmony must remain the foundation of India’s political journey.

With Uttar Pradesh preparing for a series of upcoming developmental reviews and political engagements, the Chief Minister reiterated that the focus must stay on growth, governance, and ensuring equal opportunities for all citizens.
