Lucknow witnessed sharp political remarks on Saturday as Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath launched a strong attack on the opposition while addressing the media. Without naming individuals directly.
CM Yogi Adityanath Targets Opposition, Defends UP Government
CM Yogi said, “There are two specimens in the country—one sitting in Delhi and the other in Lucknow. Whenever there is any serious discussion in the country, they immediately flee abroad. The same is happening with your ‘Babua’ as well. He will again leave the country for a trip to England, while you people will keep raising slogans here.”
The Chief Minister also firmly rejected allegations related to the codeine cough syrup case, stating that no deaths have occurred in Uttar Pradesh due to the substance. He clarified that strict action will be taken under the NDPS Act and asserted that the Uttar Pradesh government has already won the case in court.
This exposed the previous government’s role
CM Yogi further alleged that the largest wholesaler involved in the case, who was initially arrested by the Special Task Force (STF), had been issued a license during the Samajwadi Party government in 2016. He said this exposed the previous government’s role and negligence in controlling illegal drug distribution.
Responding to criticism from opposition parties, CM Yogi said that attempts to politicize sensitive issues such as public health and law and order would not succeed. He asserted that the people of Uttar Pradesh are aware of the difference between governance driven by accountability and regimes that allowed illegal networks to flourish. The Chief Minister added that his government’s focus remains on justice, safety, and development, and not on misleading narratives.
Reiterating his government’s zero-tolerance policy, Yogi Adityanath emphasized that the current administration is committed to strict law enforcement, transparency, and protecting public health, while holding those responsible accountable—regardless of political affiliation.
