Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message from the Mann Ki Baat broadcast, in which citizens were encouraged to buy swadeshi products and support local artisans ahead of the festival of Holi. He said the appeal goes beyond festive preparations and reflects a broader effort to promote self-reliance and strengthen grassroots economic activity.

The Chief Minister emphasised that purchasing locally made goods such as organic gulal, herbal colours, and traditional products can directly benefit craftsmen, farmers, and micro, small, and medium enterprises. He noted that such participation by citizens can play a meaningful role in advancing the vision of a self-reliant economy while preserving traditional crafts and indigenous industries.
Officials said the call aligns with ongoing initiatives in Uttar Pradesh aimed at promoting local manufacturing, rural entrepreneurship, and the “local to global” approach for regional products. They added that festive seasons provide an important opportunity to boost demand for locally produced goods and strengthen domestic supply chains.
The Chief Minister also extended Holi greetings to residents, expressing hope that collective participation in supporting local products would further energise the state’s development momentum while reinforcing national economic resilience.

Officials further noted that state departments and local administrations have been instructed to promote awareness campaigns encouraging consumers to choose domestically produced festive items, particularly those crafted by self-help groups, rural artisans, and small entrepreneurs. Authorities believe that such initiatives can significantly raise seasonal sales for traditional industries and help sustain livelihoods in semi-urban and rural areas.
Economic observers say festival-linked demand often provides a crucial boost to grassroots sectors supported by institutions like the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, which works to strengthen village industries and indigenous products. They add that consistent public participation in “buy local” campaigns can create long-term market stability for artisans while preserving traditional skills and cultural heritage.
