Former senior bureaucrat Awanish K. Awasthi highlighted the progress of the corridor, noting that the BrahMos missile manufacturing facility in Lucknow represents a significant milestone in India’s journey towards defence self-reliance. He said the project reflects the state’s growing role in the country’s strategic and industrial development.

According to the vision outlined by the Uttar Pradesh government, districts including Mahoba, Chitrakoot, Hamirpur, and Jhansi are being developed as future defence manufacturing hubs. These regions are expected to attract investment, generate employment opportunities, and contribute to the expansion of the defence sector ecosystem.
Officials stated that several development projects have also been undertaken in these districts to improve infrastructure and support industrial growth. The initiatives are aimed at creating an environment conducive to advanced manufacturing and long-term economic development.
The state’s leadership has emphasized that the Defence Corridor is not only a strategic project but also a catalyst for regional transformation, helping strengthen local economies while supporting national security objectives.
Alongside industrial development, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also stressed the importance of water conservation and sustainable resource management. He has called upon citizens to use water responsibly and participate in efforts aimed at ensuring long-term water security.
The Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor is considered one of the country’s flagship defence manufacturing initiatives and is expected to play a significant role in advancing the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat through innovation, infrastructure, and indigenous production.
