In a strong move aimed at ensuring public safety, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has ordered that deaths caused by Chinese manjha will now be treated as murder cases under the law. The directive comes in the wake of a tragic incident in which a motorcyclist lost his life after sustaining fatal injuries caused by the banned nylon-coated kite string.
The Chief Minister has taken serious note of the incident and instructed authorities to adopt a zero-tolerance approach against the manufacture, sale, transport, and use of Chinese manjha across the state.

CM Yogi Adityanath: Strict Legal Action Against Violators
As per the Chief Minister’s orders, any incident resulting in death due to Chinese manjha will invite stringent criminal action, including charges equivalent to murder. Officials have been directed to ensure immediate registration of cases, swift investigation, and strict punishment for those found responsible.
The state administration has also been asked to intensify enforcement drives against illegal manjha trade, particularly during festive seasons when kite flying increases.
Public Safety a Top Priority
CM Yogi Adityanath emphasized that public safety cannot be compromised and warned that negligence or leniency in such cases will not be tolerated. He directed district administrations and police officials to remain vigilant and take proactive steps to prevent further incidents.
Chinese manjha, known for its sharp synthetic coating, poses a serious threat not only to humans but also to birds and animals. Despite being banned, its illegal circulation has continued in some areas, leading to fatal accidents.
Awareness and Enforcement to Go Hand in Hand
Along with strict enforcement, the Chief Minister stressed the need for public awareness campaigns to educate citizens about the dangers of Chinese manjha. Authorities have been instructed to involve local bodies, schools, and community organisations in spreading awareness.
The government aims to ensure that preventive action, legal accountability, and citizen participation together eliminate the menace completely.
Strong Message from the State Government
This decision sends a clear message that reckless actions endangering lives will be dealt with firmly. By equating deaths caused by Chinese manjha with murder, the Uttar Pradesh government has underlined its commitment to law and order, accountability, and protection of human life.
