An official reported on Saturday that Delhi Police arrested a member of an interstate drugs syndicate and found more than 300 grammes of heroin in his hands.

Mohd. Nazim, a 32-year-old inhabitant of Uttar Pradesh's Badaun area, has been officially named as the person who was arrested.

Sagar Singh Kalsi, the deputy commissioner of police for the north, reported that information about drug trafficking activity in the Kashmere Gate region was obtained on Friday.

"A raid was conducted near ISBT Kashmere Gate, and one person, later on identified as Nazim, was apprehended. During the personal search of the accused person, a fine quality of heroin weighing approximately 316 gm was recovered from his possession," said the DCP.

When questioned, Nazim admitted that he had a poor financial situation, had moved to Delhi from his hometown around six months prior, and worked in a factory.

"Further, he disclosed that one Owaise, who is also a resident of Badaun lured him into the business of drug trafficking. Consequently, to live a lavish life and earn quick money, he started supplying heroin in retail in various parts of Delhi and NCR," said the official.

Nazim further disclosed to the police that he typically transports illegal heroin from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, to Delhi and the NCR regions.

"On Friday, on the direction of Owaise, he had to supply the contraband drugs to someone in the area of Kashmere Gate area of Delhi but he was apprehended by the police," official added.
