There is an atmosphere of panic in the area after the murder came to the fore. In Sitapur, a man named Pankaj Maurya confessed to the police that he and one of his accomplices had killed his wife Jyoti alias Sneha and others. The matter came to light when the Sitapur police recovered Jyoti’s body parts from Gulriha area on 8 November.
Arrest of two people
After investigation, the police arrested Jyoti’s husband Pankaj Maurya and Durjan Pasi. According to an ANI report, Pankaj Maurya told the police that his wife was addicted to drugs and used to stay at someone’s house for several days, due to which the relationship turned sour. A statement from the Sitapur police said that Pankaj planned to murder Jyoti, suspecting that she was cheating on him.
Similar case from Azamgarh
Both were married for more than ten years. Police said that Pankaj Maurya killed Jyoti and then cut her body into several pieces to hide her identity. Earlier, a similar incident had come to the fore in Azamgarh as well, in Azamgarh also a young man had cut his body into pieces after killing his ex-girlfriend.
