Prayagraj police have seized an abandoned Creta car from near the residence of jailed mafia don Atiq Ahmed. This car without number plate was apparently used in the murder of Umesh Pal, the main witness in the murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal. A police spokesman said Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf are accused in the murder.
Umesh Pal was shot dead in front of his house on Friday evening. Pal postmortem report revealed that he was shot seven times. The report said that there were 13 injury marks on his body. Uttar Pradesh Police has formed 10 teams to search for the assailants who shot Umesh Pal.
Police checking all exit routes
Police teams are extensively checking all exit points of Prayagraj, including borders, bus stands and airport, as they suspect that the attackers are yet to leave the city. Lucknow team of Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF) has also reached Prayagraj along with Prayagraj unit of UP STF along with an Additional SP rank officer and two Deputy SPs of Lucknow.
14 people were arrested
Police is raiding the hideouts of the accused even throughout the night. Prayagraj Police has registered an FIR against Atiq’s brother, wife Shaista Praveen and his two sons in the Umesh Pal murder case and arrested 14 people.

A total of 14 suspects, including the sons of Atiq Ahmed, have been kept for questioning. Atiq Ahmed, his brother and former MLA Ashraf are the main accused in the Raju Pal murder case. All the accused are currently lodged in jail. Police is also probing Umesh Pal property dispute.
