Ghaziabad News: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) under the able guidance of Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath would be addressing severe traffic jam concerns in the city.

A scientific survey would soon be carried out by the Urban Mass Transit Company Limited (UMTC) to make nine busiest intersections of the city free from traffic jams and congestion to ease the travel of millions of daily commuters.

Ghaziabad News-What’s Special?

The UMTC Survey, which is being initiated on the instructions of the Divisional Commissioner, would be collecting data on peak hours and traffic pressure with a predefined goal to develop solutions that would work in the long run. These intersections would be developed into out-of-the-box model junctions to reduce pollution and ensure pedestrian safety.

Divisional Commissioner’s Intervention

The Divisional Commissioner suggested that simply replacing the divider or widening the roads would not be able to solve the traffic jam problems of the city. Therefore, it was decided that scientific data on traffic pressure, the road’s dynamics and the count of vehicles during peak hours should be considered before formulating any policy decision. After this, the thought of carrying out a professional survey was formulated and accepted.

Nine Intersections

The nine major intersections would be Chaudhary Mor, Hapur Chungi Square, Dasna Gate Square, Junction below Thakurdwara flyover, ALT Center Square, Gaushala Gate/Chowraha, Junction near Commissionerate Office (Collectorate), Lohia Nagar/Old Bus Stand Square and Nehru Nagar/Yashoda Hospital Cut.

It was clarified by the GDA Vice Chairman Nand Kishore Kalaal that the tender process for the same would be initiated shortly once the report by UMTC is received. The nine intersections would be developed as “model junctions”, prioritizing pedestrian safety and modern facilities. This initiative would help save fuel, reduce traffic congestion and minimize the city’s alarming pollution levels.
