The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has finalized a Detailed Project Report (DPR) proposing the construction of two new ramps on the 10.3-kilometre Hindon elevated road, with an estimated cost of ₹193 crore, officials confirmed on Wednesday. The project aims to significantly improve traffic flow and provide direct access to Delhi for residents of Vasundhara, Indirapuram, and Siddharth Vihar.
According to Rudresh Shukla, GDA's media coordinator, the project will include two new ramps:
An entry ramp from the Indirapuram side, allowing commuters to get onto the elevated road towards Delhi
An exit ramp at Vasundhara, enabling a smoother drop-off for local residents
Response to Housing Board's Connectivity Push
The plan follows a site visit in April by senior officials of the Uttar Pradesh Housing and Development Board, who advocated for additional connectivity for large housing clusters being developed in Vasundhara and Siddharth Vihar. The officials argued that improved road access is essential for these areas, particularly with plans for residential and commercial development, including a proposed AIIMS satellite centre on a 10-acre land parcel in Vasundhara.
“These new ramps will help ease traffic for thousands of daily commuters and support upcoming residential expansion,” Shukla said.
Strategic Road Expansion without Direct GDA Funding
Although the DPR is ready, the project will not be funded directly by GDA. Instead, the authority has submitted a list of projects—including this one—for consideration under the Centre’s Sixteenth Finance Commission funding.
“Once the funding is approved by the state government under the Commission, work will move forward,” Shukla added.
Existing Connectivity and the Need for Expansion
Currently, the Hindon elevated road provides signal-free access from Raj Nagar Extension to UP Gate, near the East Delhi border. There are limited access points: a ramp from Kanawani in Indirapuram and an opposite-side ramp at Vasundhara, both of which are insufficient to meet growing commuter demand.
The proposed ₹193 crore expansion is expected to reduce travel time, decongest local roads, and enhance regional connectivity to Delhi—especially benefiting new homebuyers and businesses eyeing the Vasundhara zone.
