Ghaziabad News: GDA Plans 3.5-Km Elevated Corridor on GT Road to Ease Traffic Congestion

GDA officials recently inspected the site and decided to connect this stretch with the planned Ghanta Ghar–Bhatia Morh corridor.

The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has planned an additional elevated corridor on the Grand Trunk (GT) Road to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity across Ghaziabad. The proposed corridor will connect the New Bus Adda Metro station to the Ghanta Ghar crossing and link with another planned elevated stretch extending from Ghanta Ghar to Bhatia Morh.

According to a report by the Hindustan Times published on October 17, the two connected corridors are expected to span approximately 3.5 kilometres, with an estimated combined cost of ₹400 crore. The project aims to help commuters bypass congested sections of GT Road.

GDA Plans Elevated Corridor from New Bus Adda to Ghanta Ghar

The proposed elevated corridor will extend from near the New Bus Adda Metro station to the Ghanta Ghar crossing. GDA officials recently inspected the site and decided to connect this stretch with the planned Ghanta Ghar–Bhatia Morh corridor.

GT Road is an important route connecting Ghaziabad with Gautam Budh Nagar, Bulandshahr and Aligarh. It also provides access to National Highway 9 and the Delhi–Meerut Expressway near Lal Kuan.

The project is intended to improve traffic movement along this busy road and reduce delays for commuters travelling through the city.

Ghaziabad News: Thakurdwara Flyover to Be Widened to Four Lanes

As part of the plan, the existing two-lane Thakurdwara flyover will be widened to four lanes. The two elevated corridors will also be connected to allow smoother movement across the congested stretch.

GDA Secretary Vivek Mishra said the authority would prepare a detailed project report (DPR) before finalising the project.

₹400 Crore Project to Receive Funding from Multiple Sources

The combined cost of the two proposed corridors is estimated at around ₹400 crore. According to officials, funding is expected to come from the Centre’s Urban Challenge Fund, GDA’s own resources and loans.
