Ghaziabad News: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) will now directly purchase land from landowners to complete eight major roads identified under the zonal plan for Raj Nagar Extension (RNE), officials said on Wednesday. The move is expected to improve traffic flow and strengthen connectivity for residents in the area.
GDA to Purchase Land Directly for Key Roads in Raj Nagar Extension
According to officials, the eight roads include five stretches with a width of 45 metres each, one road with a width of 30 metres, and two roads with widths of 24 metres each. The GDA board cleared the proposal in its recent meeting.
This will not only streamline traffic but also provide better access for residents,” said Rudresh Shukla
“All these roads are part of the zonal plan for RNE. The board’s approval for direct land purchase will remove existing hurdles and expedite construction. This will not only streamline traffic but also provide better access for residents,” said Rudresh Shukla, GDA’s media coordinator.
The zonal plan for Raj Nagar Extension was prepared nearly a decade ago, but several legal and financial challenges delayed progress. “Issues related to development charges, lack of a dedicated land bank, and the higher costs of direct land purchase had stalled road development for years,” said a former GDA town planner.
With this decision, the GDA expects to overcome long-standing obstacles and ensure that the planned road network under the zonal scheme is completed at the earliest, easing the daily commute for thousands of residents.
