IndiGo Airlines is all set to commence flight operations from the civil terminal of Hindon Airport starting July 20, 2025, connecting eight major Indian cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Indore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, and Varanasi. The announcement is being seen as a significant boost for residents of Western Uttar Pradesh, who will now have more convenient access to these cities without having to travel to Delhi’s IGI Airport.
IndiGo to Launch Flights from Hindon Airport to 8 Major Cities Starting July 20; Bookings Now Open
According to IndiGo’s Global Sales Head, Vinay Malhotra, this expansion will offer seamless domestic connectivity from Hindon, located within the National Capital Region (NCR). Over 70 weekly departures are planned from Hindon, enhancing accessibility and easing passenger flow across some of the country’s busiest business and travel routes.
Move is to enhance travel convenience
“This move is aimed at enhancing travel convenience and supporting commercial activity in the region,” Malhotra said, adding that the decision is expected to stimulate economic growth and promote tourism.
Flight bookings for all these destinations have already opened, and travel enthusiasts and frequent flyers alike are expressing enthusiasm over the development, which reduces travel time and offers a much-needed alternative to congested metro airports.
The launch of operations from Hindon Airport marks a strategic step in decentralizing air traffic from the increasingly crowded Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Hindon, located in Ghaziabad, will now serve as an important domestic hub, especially for passengers in Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Hapur, Saharanpur, and Noida, who earlier faced long commutes to catch flights.
Tourism industry stakeholders have welcomed the move, stating that improved air connectivity will boost regional tourism circuits, especially to cities like Varanasi and Patna which hold religious and cultural significance. Business travelers are also expected to benefit from the quick links to commercial centers like Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad.
