Ghaziabad News: Indirapuram is set to become the sixth zone of the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation, following the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) and the municipal corporation. The agreement, finalized on September 6, involves the transfer of Indirapuram’s administration to the civic agency for a mutually agreed amount of ₹185 crore, which will be exclusively used to upgrade civic infrastructure and services in the township.
Indirapuram to Become Ghaziabad’s Sixth Municipal Zone, Property-Tax Assessment from October 1
Starting October 1, the municipal corporation will take over the responsibility of property tax assessment in Indirapuram. This will include not only house tax, which currently generates ₹30 crore annually from about 52,572 households, but also additional taxes like water and sewage/drainage tax, further increasing revenue for civic services.
The GDA will pay the first instalment of ₹70 crore to the municipal corporation
The GDA will pay the first instalment of ₹70 crore to the municipal corporation within the next few days, which will mark the official handover of Indirapuram. The remaining amount will be transferred in due course to support the planned improvements in infrastructure.
Municipal commissioner Vikramaditya Malik confirmed that Indirapuram would soon be established as a separate municipal zone. “Given the large number of households and the significant area it covers, we will be sending a proposal to the state government for approval. Our departments have also been directed to assess the manpower required to manage the new zone, and we will submit a plan accordingly,” said Malik.
Currently, the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation has five zones—City, Mohan Nagar, Vasundhara, Vijay Nagar, and Kavi Nagar. Indirapuram’s inclusion as the sixth zone is expected to enhance the efficiency of civic administration and improve infrastructure for its residents.
