Ghaziabad News: In a significant step toward sustainable waste management, Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation is set to establish a Waste to Energy Plant in the Galand area. The municipality has procured 35 acres of land for the project, as directed by the government. The land, acquired from the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), is a crucial component for the plant’s setup. This innovative initiative aims to address the daily generation of lakhs of metric tons of garbage in Ghaziabad city.
Tender Awarded to Netherlands Company GC International
The Waste to Energy Plant project has entrusted the task to GC International, a Netherlands-based company specializing in generating electricity from waste. The company has secured the tender for the plant, leveraging its expertise in waste-to-energy technology. Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with the Uttar Pradesh government, GC International is committed to generating 45 MW of electricity daily from the processed garbage.
Land Procurement and Project Implementation
The acquisition of 35 acres of land in 2019 from Galand farmers by GDA has paved the way for the Waste to Energy Plant. The land will be handed over to Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation for the plant’s construction. The Netherlands company, eager to commence work, has sought permission from the Municipal Corporation. With land allocation expected soon, the Waste to Energy Plant is poised to contribute significantly to waste management and clean energy generation in the Delhi NCR region.
