In a major development for travelers from Bihar to Delhi-NCR, IndiGo Airlines is launching a new daily direct flight between Patna and Ghaziabad, starting July 20. The flight will operate from Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad, providing an alternative air route to the crowded Delhi airport and easing travel for thousands of passengers.
According to the airline, bookings for this route have already started, and the new service will complement the existing Air India Express flight on the same route.
Flight Details and Fare Structure
The new flight will have 180 all-economy seats, ensuring affordability and comfort for budget-conscious travelers
The initial fare from Patna to Ghaziabad on July 20 is listed at ₹4,700, while the return ticket from Ghaziabad to Patna is priced at ₹4,145.
The total journey time is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, offering a quicker and more convenient alternative to trains and buses.
Better Access to NCR and Western UP
This direct flight will especially benefit passengers from Patna and neighboring districts who frequently travel to Noida, Ghaziabad, and Meerut. The route will save both time and effort, particularly for those commuting to eastern and northern Delhi, and towns in western Uttar Pradesh.
Officials say that the flight is part of broader efforts to strengthen regional air connectivity and decongest Delhi’s IGI Airport by using Hindon Airbase as a civil terminal for short-haul flights.
This initiative is expected to improve accessibility for business travelers, students, and families who frequently commute between Bihar and the National Capital Region (NCR).
Hindon Airport, located in Ghaziabad, has been developed as a secondary civil terminal under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme. Its location offers a major advantage for passengers headed towards Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, and even eastern and northern Delhi, reducing the need to travel to Delhi airport, which is further south.
By using Hindon as a departure and arrival point, IndiGo is not only decongesting Delhi Airport but also bringing air travel closer to densely populated residential and industrial zones in western Uttar Pradesh.
