Ghaziabad News: In response to the scorching temperatures sweeping across the Delhi NCR region, Ghaziabad District Magistrate Inder Vikram Singh has mandated the closure of all schools up to class 8 from May 20 to May 25, 2024. The official order aims to safeguard students from the intensifying heatwave gripping the region.

Delhi experienced its hottest day of the season on Sunday, with temperatures soaring to 44.4 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘red alert’, warning of severe heatwave conditions in the capital.

The heatwave has seen temperatures rising steadily, with Saturday recording a high of 43.6 degrees Celsius, following Friday’s peak of 42.5 degrees Celsius. The IMD’s seven-day forecast emphasizes the need for extra caution, particularly among vulnerable groups such as infants, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses.

Various areas in Delhi NCR have recorded extreme temperatures, with Najafgarh reaching 47.8 degrees Celsius, Mungeshpur 47.7 degrees, Aya Nagar 46.4 degrees, Pusa 46.5 degrees, Pitampura 47 degrees, and Palam 45.1 degrees.

To stay safe, the IMD advises everyone to drink plenty of water and seek shade from the sun. Hydration is crucial, so it’s essential to drink water and other refreshing beverages like ORS, lassi, and lemon water to stay cool and healthy during this severe heatwave.
