The UP State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) is strategizing to establish a 340-acre industrial hub in Newari, Ghaziabad. Out of the total land required, 210 acres are privately owned, and UPSIDA has submitted a proposal for land acquisition to the district magistrate. The process involves acquiring private land under the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement Act, 2013, where the government compensates four times the prevailing circle rate.

UPSIDA Plans Industrial Hub in Newari, Ghaziabad, Amid Land Acquisition Challenges

The estimated cost for acquiring this land is around Rs 128 crore, and the acquisition poses a challenge due to the need for contiguous parcels. Once the land acquisition is approved by the state industrial development authority, the district magistrate will facilitate the acquisition process, working with the gram sabha for the common land and the private landowners.

Ghaziabad, currently housing over 27,000 industries across 11 clusters, including one in Hapur, has faced a land shortage for industrial expansion. The city's industrial growth, primarily in the 1960s and 1970s, slowed down in the last two decades, with no new industrial clusters added due to the exhaustion of UPSIDA's land bank. The proposed industrial hub aims to address this need for expansion and development in the region.
