Ghaziabad to Hold Special Passport Lok Adalat for Pending Applications

Applicants from these districts whose files are pending have already been notified to attend the Lok Adalat for speedy resolution.

In a major relief for passport applicants facing long delays, the Regional Passport Office in Ghaziabad has announced the organization of a Special Passport Lok Adalat on Thursday, November 6, 2025, following the directions of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

The initiative aims to provide citizens with quick, transparent, and hassle-free passport services by resolving long-pending cases in a single sitting.

According to officials, the Lok Adalat will take place in Room No. 320 at the Passport Office, Kamla Nehru Nagar, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Regional Passport Officer, Anuj Swaroop (Indian Foreign Service), will be personally present to hear applicants’ grievances and resolve them on the spot.

Relief for Pending Applications

This special Lok Adalat comes as a major relief for those whose passport files are stuck due to technical issues, incomplete documents, or pending verification processes. Officials said that during the session, such cases will be reviewed and settled immediately to avoid repeated office visits.

Initiative to Benefit 13 Districts

The jurisdiction of the Ghaziabad Regional Passport Office extends to 13 districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Hapur, Baghpat, Bulandshahr, Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida), Mathura, Hathras, Aligarh, and Agra. Applicants from these districts whose files are pending have already been notified to attend the Lok Adalat for speedy resolution.

What Applicants Need to Bring

Citizens attending the Lok Adalat are advised to carry original documents, file numbers, and relevant certificates to enable quick on-the-spot verification and processing.

Ministry’s Focus on Transparency and Efficiency

Speaking on the initiative, Regional Passport Officer Anuj Swaroop said,

“Many passport applications get delayed due to small technical errors or missing documents. Through this Lok Adalat, citizens won’t have to make repeated visits — their issues will be resolved immediately at one place.”

The Ministry of External Affairs has emphasized that such Lok Adalats reflect its commitment to citizen-centric governance, ensuring that passport services across India remain transparent, accountable, and accessible.

A Step Towards Citizen-Centric Governance

Officials believe that the Lok Adalat initiative will help thousands of citizens who have been waiting for months to receive their passports. It not only speeds up the disposal process but also builds public trust in government services.

Past experiences show that similar Lok Adalats organized by the Ghaziabad Passport Office have led to a significant increase in applicant satisfaction and have strengthened the system’s efficiency.
