Infrastructure push: Ganeshpur stretch of Delhi Dehradun Expressway enhance safety, connectivity

Enhanced road connectivity is also anticipated to stimulate small businesses and real estate growth along the corridor route.

The upcoming Ganeshpur section of the Delhi Dehradun Economic Expressway is being developed with advanced safety infrastructure, according to the National Highways Authority of India. Officials say the stretch will incorporate grade-separated crossings, protective barriers, improved road signage and controlled entry points to ensure smoother and safer travel for commuters.

Authorities state that the design prioritizes accident prevention and traffic discipline. Grade-separated crossings will allow vehicles and pedestrians to move without intersecting traffic paths, while controlled access aims to reduce sudden merging and unauthorized entry. Protective barriers and reflective signage are expected to improve night driving conditions and reduce collision risks.

Impact on travel time and congestion

The corridor is part of a larger connectivity project linking Delhi with Dehradun. Once completed, it is projected to significantly cut travel time between the two cities, easing congestion on existing highways and improving freight movement. Officials highlight that faster transit will benefit logistics companies, daily commuters and tourism-dependent local economies.

The project is expected to support economic activity across Uttarakhand and adjoining regions by improving access to markets, employment hubs and services. Enhanced road connectivity is also anticipated to stimulate small businesses and real estate growth along the corridor route.

The project is being implemented under the supervision of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways with coordination from the Prime Minister’s Office. Authorities describe the corridor as part of a broader national effort to modernize transport infrastructure and strengthen regional mobility networks.
