Kanpur Lamborghini Accident: On February 12, 26-year-old Shivam Mishra was taken into custody in relation to the well-publicised Lamborghini crash in Kanpur. After he allegedly evaded interrogation for a few days, police followed him. Authorities used CCTV evidence and eyewitness reports that purportedly put him in the driver’s seat during the February 8 accident on VIP Road, and several teams were sent out to find him.

According to conflicting reports, he was taken from a hospital while claiming to have received medical care. Around ten in the morning, he was brought before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) court.
Court Denies Police Presence
Kanpur Lamborghini Accident: Police requested a 14-day custody remand, stating that more questioning was necessary. But the request was denied by the court. The defence contended throughout the trial that the prosecution lacked hard proof. It is noteworthy that Mishra allegedly made up reasons for himself.
Within hours of his detention, Additional Civil Judge Amit Singh granted him bail on a Rs 20,000 personal bond. The decision was made concurrently with the dismissal of a previous effort at surrender by a different person posing as the driver.
Investigation Proceeds Despite Public Discussion
Three to six persons were reportedly hurt in the February 8 collision when the expensive car struck other cars on VIP Road. Victim statements and a forensic analysis of the car are still pending.
Mishra is still free on bail as of the evening of February 12. Public discussion about due process and whether powerful backgrounds influence court decisions has been spurred by the prompt relief. According to authorities, the investigation is still underway and that witness testimony and forensic results will determine the next course of action.
