Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure that meat and liquor shops remain closed along the Kanwar Yatra route during Kanwar Yatra 2026, as part of measures to maintain the sanctity and smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.

According to directions issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, officials have been instructed to carry out regular inspections and take immediate action against anyone found violating the orders.

The Chief Minister also directed that every shop along the Kanwar Yatra route must clearly display the name of its operator. Additionally, he instructed authorities to ensure that DJ sound systems used during the pilgrimage adhere to prescribed noise limits to maintain public order and comply with regulations.
The directives are part of the Uttar Pradesh government’s preparations for Kanwar Yatra 2026, one of the country’s largest annual religious pilgrimages, during which thousands of devotees travel across the state to collect holy water and offer it at Shiva temples.
The state administration has been asked to closely monitor compliance with these guidelines to facilitate a safe, peaceful, and well-organised pilgrimage for devotees.
