The Kanya Sumangala Yojana, launched by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, stands as a transformative step towards the empowerment of girl children and their families. Aimed at eliminating gender-based discrimination and encouraging education and health, the scheme provides financial assistance in six phases from birth to graduation.
This initiative, under the supervision of the Department of Women and Child Development, not only addresses financial concerns but also promotes a positive mindset toward the birth and upbringing of girl children.
Eligibility Criteria
To avail the benefits of the scheme, the applicant must meet the following conditions:
The girl child must be a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
The annual income of the girl’s family should not exceed ₹3 lakh.
A family can avail benefits for a maximum of two girl children (third girl is eligible only in case of twin daughters or adoption).
The girl must be born after April 1, 2019, to be eligible for the scheme.
Benefits of Kanya Sumangala Yojana
The scheme offers ₹15,000 in total financial assistance to each eligible girl, disbursed in six stages linked to the child's growth and education milestones:
₹2,000 – At the birth of the girl child.
₹1,000 – On completing one-year immunization.
₹2,000 – On admission to class 1.
₹2,000 – On admission to class 6.
₹3,000 – On admission to class 9.
₹5,000 – On admission to graduation or diploma course after 10+2.
The total amount is directly transferred to the girl's or guardian’s bank account via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), ensuring transparency and efficiency.
How to Apply
Interested families can apply both online and offline:

Click on “Citizen Service Portal”.
Register with a mobile number and create a login.
Fill out the application form with accurate details of the girl child and the family.
Upload the necessary documents:
Birth certificate of the girl child
Aadhaar card of parents and child (if available)
Income certificate
Bank account details
Recent passport-sized photograph
Offline Process:
Visit the nearest Anganwadi center, Block Development Office, or District Women Welfare Office.
Fill out the form manually and submit with attached documents.
Applications are verified by the district authorities before the benefits are disbursed.
