Kirti’s Life transformed in Hamirpur through Yogi government’s initiative

Power of collective effort: Kirti built her own business through Prerna Canteen

Government schemes under Yogi administration in Uttar Pradesh are bringing significant changes in the lives of rural women. Kirti from Hamirpur district has emerged as a living example of this transformation. Once working as a teacher and social worker, Kirti decided to join a women’s self-help group – a decision that proved to be the turning point of her life.

After joining the group in 2018, she not only moved towards financial self-reliance but also established a new identity for herself in society. Today, through the “Prerna Canteen,” Kirti has not only empowered herself but is also creating opportunities for other women to move forward.

In August 2025, Kirti, along with 10 women, started the “Prerna Canteen” at Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Dariyapur, Hamirpur. The initiative began with an investment of about ₹11 lakh and has now grown into a successful enterprise with a turnover of ₹1.25 crore. Currently, eight women are associated with the canteen. Each woman earns a monthly salary of around ₹8,000.

The canteen is not just a business venture but also a strong example of nutrition and hygiene. Every day, 332 children receive nutritious snacks, milk, and meals at very affordable rates. Food is also arranged for the teachers.

According to Kirti, clean and nutritious food forms the foundation of a healthy society, and with this belief she continues to carry forward the responsibility with dedication.

Kirti Singh’s success is not only a personal achievement but also proof of the effectiveness of Uttar Pradesh government schemes, especially Self-Help Groups and the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Yojana. Kirti first gained experience while working as a Bank Sakhi and has now stepped into entrepreneurship, reaching new heights.

Kirti says that the initiative of Yogi government inspired her to become self-reliant. She has also applied for a loan under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Yojana to further expand her business.

Kirti’s journey shows that when government schemes reach the right hands and are combined with dedication and determination, real change becomes possible. Today, she is not only self-reliant but also inspiring many other women to become self-reliant.
