Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway to be inaugurated on July 13
The 63-km, six-lane access-controlled expressway, which can be expanded to eight lanes in the future, is expected to reduce travel time between Lucknow and Kanpur from the current 90–120 minutes to around 35–45 minutes. A nearly 13-km elevated stretch near Amausi (Scooter India) in Lucknow has also been constructed as part of the project.

The expressway has been built using 3D automated grading technology, aimed at improving construction quality and driving comfort. Officials believe the corridor will strengthen connectivity between the Lucknow and Kanpur nodes of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor, while also benefiting industries, logistics and freight movement in the region, including Kanpur’s leather sector.
The project will integrate with several major expressways across the state. Through the outer ring road, it will connect with the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, while links through Shaheed Path and Kisan Path will provide connectivity to the Purvanchal Expressway. It will also offer access to the Bundelkhand Expressway through the national highway network and connect with the Ganga Expressway near Unnao, strengthening east-west connectivity across Uttar Pradesh.
According to available details, the one-way toll for the entire stretch is expected to be ₹275. The expressway will have five toll plazas located at Miranpur Pinvat, Shivpura-Khande Dev, Bani, Amarsas (on the Unnao-Lalganj route) and Azad Nagar near the Kanpur border.
Officials expect the new corridor to improve passenger travel, facilitate faster movement of goods and support economic growth by connecting major industrial hubs with the state’s expanding expressway network. The project is also expected to ease congestion on the existing National Highway-27 and provide a safer, faster alternative for commuters.
