Lucknow News: Daliganj Intersection Remodelling to Ease Traffic, LDA VC Directs Faster Work

Lucknow News: Lucknow’s busy Daliganj intersection, which sees nearly 1–1.5 lakh vehicles daily, is set for a major transformation as the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) pushes forward with an ambitious traffic remodelling project. LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar, who inspected the Heritage Zone on Saturday, instructed officials to expedite the ongoing intersection remodelling and road-widening works to ease congestion at one of the city’s busiest junctions.

Rotary and Traffic Diversion Plans

The ₹87 lakh project, based on detailed survey findings, aims to create a smoother traffic flow. Plans include building a rotary at Daliganj and setting up designated stoppages for auto-tempos and e-rickshaws, which are currently a major cause of roadside bottlenecks.

Additionally, the cut turning towards City Station and KK Hospital will be permanently closed, with vehicles diverted via River Bank Colony. Officials said this would reduce unnecessary halts and streamline movement. Kumar also noted that the proposed elevated green corridor at Daliganj would provide a long-term solution to the area’s persistent traffic woes.

Other Intersections to Be Upgraded

The LDA is also redesigning other crucial intersections. At the Museum intersection, the rotary will be enlarged to enable smooth turns for buses and heavy vehicles. Near Teele Wali Masjid, the central island will be trimmed to widen the road.

In addition to road widening, safety and beautification measures such as signage, table tops, and road markings will be installed in accordance with Indian Road Congress (IRC) norms, ensuring both efficiency and compliance with national standards.

Contractors Penalised for Delays

Expressing dissatisfaction over delays at the Hussainabad Museum Block, the LDA vice-chairman imposed a fine of ₹5 lakh each on two private agencies. He also directed officials to accelerate road-widening work near Residency and Nimbu Park, stressing that timely completion was crucial to improving traffic flow in the heritage areas.

Prathamesh Kumar was accompanied during the inspection by chief engineer Navneet Sharma, superintending engineer Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, and executive engineers Manoj Sagar and Neeraj Kumar.
