The Video That Stirred a State
Soumya also captured a heart-wrenching video before she made the drastic decision, and in this video, she explained the mental and emotional torture she was going through. She wept as she said her husband repeatedly humiliated and tortured her, and that her in-laws also contributed to her misery. Her last words were, “He pushed me into this situation… I want justice, CM Yogi, help me,” as the visuals are punctuated by cries of pain. The footage immediately became viral, causing an outpouring of indignation and compassion on social media.
Police Investigation Under Spotlight
The accused, Anurag Singh, is a serving constable; hence, the case has exposed the praises of UP Police to the test. Authorities have registered an FIR and begun investigations. As a major piece of evidence, Soumya\’s phone with the video is in custody. A criminal investigation team has been sent to inspect the crime scene. Her family members have complained that they had raised their grievances several times before but had not found any assistance. Lucknow police have now assured an objective and impartial investigation, and nobody will escape imminent punishment in case he is found guilty.
Social Outcry and Demand for Justice
The viral video has reopened the debate about mental health, domestic abuse, and the extent to which such problems are internalised among families, more so among the families related to law enforcement. The feminists have demanded stronger preventive measures and measures to help with their mental problems. According to legal advisers, serious allegations to that tune might be filed if the allegation is proved against IPC 498A (cruelty) and 306 (abetment to suicide).
