In the 118th episode of his monthly radio program Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about the enthusiastic participation of youth in the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj. He emphasized how the younger generation’s involvement in such grand cultural and spiritual gatherings strengthens the nation’s civilizational roots and assures a promising future.
Addressing the nation, the Prime Minister remarked, "You must have seen that the youth are extensively participating in Kumbh. It is true that when the young generation proudly joins its civilization, then its roots become stronger, and its golden future is assured."
The PM also noted a significant shift in the way Maha Kumbh is being experienced and shared, mentioning the large-scale digital footprints left by attendees. "This time we are also witnessing the digital footprints on a large scale in Kumbh," he added, highlighting the role of technology and social media in amplifying the event’s reach and appeal.
Youth and Tradition
The Maha Kumbh, a once-in-12-years spiritual event, has traditionally been a gathering for devotees from all walks of life. However, the increasing presence of youth at the event marks a notable trend. Youngsters are not only engaging in the spiritual aspects of Kumbh but are also leveraging digital platforms to document and share their experiences, bridging tradition with modernity.
Digital Kumbh
This year’s Maha Kumbh has seen a surge in social media activity, with hashtags, photos, and videos capturing the essence of Prayagraj’s cultural vibrancy. PM Modi’s acknowledgment of this digital wave underscores the role of technology in making ancient traditions more accessible and relevant to the younger generation.
The Prime Minister’s words reflect the broader narrative of India’s youth embracing their heritage while adapting it to the demands of a digital age. As the Maha Kumbh 2025 progresses, the spirit of cultural unity and innovation continues to shine, fostering a deeper connection between generations.
