Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has expelled her nephew and political heir, Akash Anand, from the party, citing his response to a showcause notice as "selfish and arrogant." His reply, she stated, made it evident that he was under the influence of his father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth, who had already been expelled from the party.

Mayawati, in a series of posts on social media platform X, expressed disappointment over Akash Anand’s lack of remorse and political maturity. "He should have repented for his actions and demonstrated wisdom, but instead, his lengthy response reflected arrogance and selfishness, influenced by his father-in-law," she wrote.

Decision Taken in Party’s Interest

Mayawati stated that Akash’s expulsion was necessary to uphold the discipline and principles of the BSP, as established by Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Kanshiram. She emphasized that the decision was made in the interest of the party and its movement, ensuring that no internal conflicts weaken its foundation.

Akash Anand’s ouster comes just a day after he was removed from all party posts. Notably, in May last year, Mayawati had stripped him of key responsibilities, labeling him as "immature." However, a month later, he was appointed as the party's National Coordinator, implying his status as her political successor.

BSP’s Internal Conflict Deepens

The decision follows Ashok Siddharth’s expulsion over the weekend. Mayawati accused him of attempting to split the party into two factions, particularly in Uttar Pradesh. She condemned his actions as “heinous” and intolerable, asserting that they directly weakened the party’s unity.

With these back-to-back expulsions, the BSP faces internal turmoil at a crucial time. Mayawati’s decision signals her firm control over the party and her unwillingness to tolerate any defiance within the ranks. The party's future leadership structure now remains uncertain, as Akash Anand’s departure leaves a vacuum in the succession plan.
