Meerut Namo Bharat Train Video: A proud moment for Meerut has quickly turned into a worrying debate. Just days after the inauguration of the 82-km Delhi-Meerut corridor, videos showing gutkha stains and litter at newly opened stations of the Namo Bharat have gone viral.

The corridor was inaugurated on February 21, 2026, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The high-speed rail system, developed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), recorded more than one lakh passengers on its first full day. The excitement was visible, but so was irresponsible behaviour.

Videos Show Gutkha Stains and Litter

Meerut Namo Bharat Train Video: Clips circulating on social media platforms show red gutkha stains on station walls and paper tickets scattered near entry gates and dustbins. Some of the visuals are reportedly from Begumpul station.

A large number of passengers have been seen taking selfies and partying since the launch of this train service; however, this new service has also experienced large-scale spitting, littering, and a total breakdown of common courtesy. As a result of the destruction of public infrastructure and systems, there has been widespread discontent among users of social media who are asking how it is possible that these public infrastructure or systems are being so rapidly destroyed.

The contrast between civic pride and lack of civic pride has been a shock to many of the citizenry.

Swachh Bharat Mission Focus

Seemingly, this has again turned the spotlight on the Swachh Bharat Mission, launched in October 2014 to encourage cleanliness and sanitation throughout the entire country.

The Namo Bharat system intends to be a “World Class” system that includes fast, modern, high-speed trains that operate as high as 180 kilometres(112 miles) per hour and high-tech waste disposal systems.

To ultimately achieve the objective of “cleanliness” as set forth in the Swachh Bharat Mission for the entire country of India, there is much more than the mere construction of additional infrastructure to be done.

There must also be more effective enforcement of fines and continued programme promotion/education of the public regarding improved cleanliness and positive civic behaviours.
