The Uttar Pradesh government has approved a pivotal "missing link" road project, a step that will greatly improve connectivity to the new Noida International Airport at Jewar. The 3 km road is planned to fill a lingering gap between Greater Noida and the airport corridor. This project is meant to link the current 130-meter-wide road in Greater Noida with the 120-meter-wide Yamuna City Road, thus offering a direct and much-needed path for commuters.

Bridging the Connectivity Gap

At present, commuters from Greater Noida West, Noida Extension, and Ghaziabad sectors are facing a major bottleneck in terms of the lack of an avenue to the Yamuna Expressway corridor leading to the airport. The new road will facilitate smoother movement of vehicles from the Char Murti Chowk to the Sirsa village, from where commuters can directly access the Yamuna City area and on to the airport. This will not only cut down the travel time but will also decongest traffic on other major routes, providing a high-capacity option to the heavily trafficked Yamuna Expressway.

Project Details and Implementation

Greater Noida Authority officials have confirmed that a detailed project report (DPR) is being prepared and should be ready in the next two months. Initial site visits have already taken place to evaluate land availability and topography. Most of the land needed for road alignment is in government hands, which is anticipated to reduce project schedules and curtail procedural delays. Coordination with the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department would also be involved under the project to seek relevant approvals, since part of the alignment is under its purview.

Waiting for the Airport's Opening

To prepare for the operational launch of the airport by late 2025, all roadworks have been ordered by the authorities to be fast-tracked. The overall regional mobility plan is to connect the new airport with major urban agglomerations in western Uttar Pradesh. The Greater Noida Authority is also developing a rotary at the Ghangola roundabout and an underpass at Sirsa village to enhance traffic movement further, as well as provide last-mile connectivity. The funding mechanism for the project is still in the process of finalization concerning various state agencies, and after that's done, the project will go into tendering. The establishment of this vital link will be instrumental to the operation of the new airport.
