Noida International Airport-No Expats Allowed?
The Ministry of Home Affairs is not in the favour of allowing foreign nationals to be the Chief Executive Officer of a greenfield airport.
Recently, a letter was sent to the MHA requesting an amendment to the rules that mandate that the CEO of a greenfield airport could only be an Indian national on the grounds of air operations security. The letter was sent by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), which is the aviation security regulator under the civil aviation ministry, to the MHA.
Would Kiran Jain Become The Next CEO?
According to media reports, the request has been denied. This suggests that the Noida Airport may have to replace its CEO and the next possible choice could be Kiran Jain, who is presently the Chief Operating Officer at Noida International Airport.
On March 28 this year, the Noida Airport was inaugurated by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This was after the airport announced on March 6 that it had officially received the aerodrome license.
A Noida airport spokesperson commented that we are presently coordinating with all involved stakeholders to finalize timelines for the start of commercial operations while focusing to ensure that all personnel, processes and systems are fully aligned. The spokesperson added that this would help us at the Noida Airport to deliver a seamless, safe and efficient start of operations.
