The inauguration of the Noida International Airport, Jewar, has been postponed after the aerodrome licence could not be issued on time. Preparations underway at the airport site have now come to a complete halt. On Saturday, the event management company began dismantling tents and other structures set up for the proposed ceremony.
During a recent public programme, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath indicated that the airport may become operational within the next two months, suggesting that the government is expecting pending approvals soon.
Noida International Airport: Security Clearance Yet to Be Issued
According to officials, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has not granted the mandatory security clearance required for DGCA to issue the aerodrome licence.
Due to the absence of this licence, the Prime Minister’s Office has not been able to finalise the inauguration date, resulting in the indefinite postponement of the ceremony.
Ten Days of Preparations Come to a Standstill
For nearly ten days, extensive arrangements were underway at the airport site—ranging from German hangar setup, main stage construction, chairs, sofas and carpeting. Police, administration, and various departments were also preparing for the Prime Minister’s expected rally.
However, preparations were paused on Friday evening. By Saturday, the event management team officially began removing all equipment from the venue.
CM Yogi’s Assurance
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while referencing the project during an event, said that the inauguration of India’s largest upcoming airport will take place soon, signalling confidence that all regulatory approvals will be cleared shortly.
