After multiple delays, the much-awaited Bhangel Elevated Road in Noida is finally set to open for commuters by July 2025. The 4.5-km-long flyover, built at a cost of ₹608 crore, aims to resolve long-standing traffic issues in Barola, Bhangel, and Salarpur.

Construction of the road began in June 2020, and although it missed four deadlines, the project is now complete with final finishing touches underway. As of now, installation of electric poles is in its final stage. If all goes as planned, the Noida Authority will open the elevated corridor for public use next month.

Why Was It Built?

The road stretches from Sector-41 Aghapur to near the Phase-2 drainage area, a route notorious for frequent traffic snarls. The elevated corridor is expected to significantly ease congestion for thousands of daily commuters and residents of surrounding sectors.

What's Next?

Separate tenders will soon be issued for constructing loops on both sides of the Sector-49 to Sector-107 intersection, ensuring smoother entry and exit ramps for vehicles. Additionally, safety sheets will be installed at curves along the flyover to prevent accidents.

Officials held a meeting on Tuesday to assess project status and ensure timely completion of remaining work. The urgency follows public concerns raised in media reports about delays and the impact on daily commuters.

Once operational, the Bhangel Elevated Road is expected to be a game changer for traffic management in the area, reducing travel time and improving road safety.

The project, which was supposed to be completed within two years of its launch in June 2020, faced repeated delays due to a mix of contractor issues, material shortages, and administrative approvals. These delays led to massive traffic jams in surrounding areas, especially during peak hours, causing regular inconvenience to residents and office-goers.

The matter came into focus after media reports highlighted the public's frustration. Following this, the Noida Authority held a review meeting, pledging expedited work and a strict final timeline.
