Noida News: Bhangel Elevated Road to Get Sound Barriers to Reduce Noise Pollution

Once installed, these barriers are expected to cut noise levels significantly, making the stretch more commuter- and resident-friendly.

Noida News: The Bhangel elevated road, an important link between the Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera (DSC) corridor, has been witnessing heavy vehicular traffic since its opening. While the project has eased connectivity and cut travel time for thousands of commuters, residents living in nearby sectors and housing societies raised concerns about persistent noise pollution, especially during night hours when heavy vehicles pass through the stretch.

Noida Authority’s Response

Acting on complaints, the Noida Authority has decided to install sound barriers along the elevated road. Officials confirmed that the move aims to minimize traffic noise, protect public health, and ensure a better quality of life for people living close to the busy corridor.

Design and Implementation

The proposed barriers will be made of eco-friendly, durable materials that can absorb and deflect noise. Engineers are also considering designs that are aesthetically aligned with the urban landscape. Once installed, these barriers are expected to cut noise levels significantly, making the stretch more commuter- and resident-friendly.

Benefits for Residents

Local housing societies around Sector 82, 110, and Bhangel have welcomed the initiative. Residents said the step will bring relief to schoolchildren, elderly people, and working professionals who struggle with the constant sound of traffic. Reduced noise pollution will also have positive health impacts, lowering risks of stress, disturbed sleep, and hearing issues.

Part of a Larger Urban Plan

Officials said the project is not a standalone measure. The authority is also assessing other elevated stretches and high-traffic roads in Noida to replicate this model if successful. By introducing noise control infrastructure, the city aims to balance its rapid infrastructural growth with sustainable urban living.

Public Reaction

Residents and commuters have appreciated the Authority’s step, calling it a “long-awaited relief.” Many believe this move highlights the importance of citizen-centric planning, where infrastructure is not only about speed and connectivity but also about ensuring a healthy environment.
