Noida News: Noida is set to enhance the security and traffic management of all 19 underpasses in the city by equipping them with CCTV cameras. The installation of these cameras will not only bolster security measures but also enable the police to promptly detect and address traffic jams, providing relief to commuters.
The Noida Traffic Police has written to the Noida Authority requesting the installation of cameras. It is anticipated that the process will commence next month. There are approximately 10 underpasses on the Noida-Greno Expressway, including those at sectors 96, 127, 98, 108, 135, 137, 145, 147, 150, and the Expomart underpass. Additionally, the city’s interior has 9 underpasses, including Rajnigandha (Sector-3), sectors 18, 37, 94, 71, 60, City Center, NTPC, and Bahlolpur. Currently, none of these underpasses are equipped with cameras, which are deemed crucial for safety and monitoring.
To initiate this project, DCP Traffic Anil Kumar Yadav has written to the Noida Authority, suggesting that the CCTV cameras be connected to the ISTM app for 24-hour monitoring from the control room.
Camera Installation on Signature Bridge Underway
The installation of approximately ten cameras on and around the Parthala Signature Bridge is also in progress. Additional cameras are proposed for areas such as Chhijarsi, Bahlolpur, and other locations along the FNG Expressway. Efforts are also underway to install CCTV cameras in front of the Dalit Prerna Sthal in Sector-95. The traffic police’s proposal is currently being surveyed by a private agency.
Improved Lighting to Enhance Safety
A survey conducted by the traffic police revealed that none of the underpasses currently have adequate lighting, which poses a significant risk for accidents. The Noida Authority has been requested to improve the lighting systems in all 19 underpasses to enhance safety. Ensuring proper electrical infrastructure in these areas is essential to prevent accidents and improve overall visibility.
These initiatives by the Noida Traffic Police and Noida Authority aim to significantly improve the safety, security, and convenience of commuters in the city.
