The Noida Authority is set to construct a modern circular skywalk at the Sector-62/63 intersection, adjacent to the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. This major infrastructure project aims to provide a safe passage for pedestrians and ensure smooth traffic flow at one of the city’s busiest junctions, which currently faces frequent congestion due to heavy foot and vehicular traffic.

Noida to Get Modern Circular Skywalk

The skywalk will be elevated and circular in design, spanning approximately 400 meters in length. To protect pedestrians from weather conditions such as rain and heat, it will be covered with an iron roof. The structure will include escalators and elevators on both sides, making it accessible to senior citizens, women, and differently-abled individuals.

Change In Plan

One key feature of the project is its integration with the existing foot overbridge near the highway, allowing pedestrians from Ghaziabad and other regions to reach Noida without crossing traffic lanes. Initially, a conventional foot overbridge was planned, but a recent survey revealed it would not be effective enough for the volume of daily foot traffic.

A Detailed Project Report (DPR) has already been prepared, with an estimated cost of ₹40 crore. The project has received in-principle approval, and its design will now be reviewed by IIT before construction begins.

According to the survey, nearly 50,000 people cross the intersection daily, primarily bus and auto commuters from Delhi, Meerut, Ghaziabad, and Noida. Their unregulated movement often disrupts traffic, causing repeated snarls. The upcoming skywalk is expected to provide a dedicated, safe, and structured path for pedestrians coming from all directions, significantly easing congestion and improving overall road safety.
