The students will be selected as per the State Reservation Policy. In the initial years the students will be selected by the CBSE while later the Board Steering Committee will select the students. At present, the process of admission policy has been completed, after getting the approval from the government, notification will be issued and then final admission will be done through counseling of selected students through exam. There is a possibility that the exam can be conducted in May 2023 and the final admission process will be completed in June 2023.

Each school will have a principal, an administrator and a staff of 11 teachers. According to the qualification of Principal for Temporary Staff, the candidate should have retired from the post of Principal of Navodaya or Sainik School.

After the commencement of the operation of Atal residential schools, the selection of students and the operation and monitoring of the schools will be done through the Mandal Steering Committee. In a way, it will be a district level monitoring committee which will look after the admission process in the districts. In this committee, the commissioner of the district will be the chairman, while the DM will be the vice-chairman. Deputy Labor Commissioner will be the member secretary, then BSA, DIOS, AD Basic, Principal of Navodaya, Principal of Atal Residential School and Additional Commissioner Finance or Chief Treasury Officer (nominated by the commissioner) will be members of the committee.

Poor students will get support

The Yogi government has started the Atal Residential School Scheme for construction workers and poor children in Uttar Pradesh. Due to the poverty and lack of means of many construction workers, their children are not able to take admission in schools or continue their education after taking admission. The state government is building Atal residential schools for such children of construction workers only. The objective of this scheme is to provide quality education to the children of registered construction workers by providing them facilities of primary, junior high school and secondary level education. All schools will provide state-of-the-art education, while if a child is interested in sports, work will be done to encourage sports activities. If any child needs a platform to show his skills in any field other than studies, then that type of facility will be provided in this institute under skill development. The government will make arrangements for living and eating and all kinds of facilities in the school.
