Over family disputes retired soldier shoots man with licensed gun

In Banda, Uttar Pradesh, a retired soldier shot a young man living in his neighborhood. The bullet hit the victim’s shoulder. He has been admitted to the hospital in critical condition, from where he has been referred to the Higher Center. At present his condition remains critical. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot after registering a case and arrested the accused soldier. The incident happened on Sunday afternoon. The police will interrogate the accused and present him in the court today. From where he will be sent to jail in judicial custody for 14 days.

Police said that Lekhpal Lala Bhaiya Verma, who lives in Kalu Kuan of the city’s Kotwali area, has given a complaint. He is posted in Jaspura block of Palani tehsil. He told that his two sons Vikram Verma (18) and Rajneesh Verma (16) had a fight with each other on Sunday evening. Due to domestic dispute, both of them started abusing each other. Meanwhile, the retired soldier living in his neighborhood came out of his house and dissuaded him, but when his sons did not agree, the accused went back to his house and brought a double-barreled gun. After this, the accused again asked them to stop the quarrel and then fired at his elder son Vikram.

Doctors referred to Kanpur

The pellets fired by the accused have hit Vikram’s shoulder. Due to this he got badly injured. In a hurry, he was taken to the district hospital, but seeing his condition, the doctors referred him to the Higher Center after first aid. At present, he has been admitted to Halat Hospital in Kanpur, where his condition remains critical.

Accused absconded, later arrested

According to the police, after shooting, the accused retired soldier fled from the spot. Here, the family members nominated Tahrir against the accused in the police. After registering the case, the police arrested him late at night. According to City Kotwal Shyam Babu Shukla, the accused will be presented in court today and sent to jail. The police is investigating the matter.
