PM Modi Inaugurates 72nd Senior National Volleyball Championship in Varanasi, CM Yogi Adityanath Joins Ceremony

PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the 72nd Senior National Volleyball Championship through video conferencing in Varanasi, a city revered as the abode of Lord Shiva. The national-level sporting event marks another significant step in promoting competitive sports and athletic excellence across the country.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who participated in the programme, visited the Dr. Sampurnanand Sports Stadium in Sigra, Varanasi, where he reviewed the existing sports and training infrastructure. During the visit, the Chief Minister interacted with volleyball players from different states, encouraging them and appreciating their dedication and discipline.

On the occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the Uttar Pradesh government and the Sports Authority of India (SAI). The agreement aims to strengthen sports development in the state by enhancing training facilities, infrastructure, and talent nurturing mechanisms for athletes.

Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi Adityanath said that the rapid development of modern sports infrastructure across the country is a direct result of the Prime Minister’s vision, guidance, and leadership. He noted that improved facilities and systematic training have enabled Indian athletes to participate in major international events such as the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and World Championships, bringing home medals and global recognition.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for extending his support and blessings to the championship and conveyed his best wishes to all participating players for a bright and successful future. The championship is expected to provide a strong platform for emerging talent and further boost India’s sporting culture.
