Prayagraj Metro-How Could This Revolutionise Common Man’s Life?

A Structural Shift In Urban Mobility
Historically, the city has relied on a mix of auto-rickshaws, private vehicles, buses and cycle rickshaws. However, this system is often time-consuming, fragmented and vulnerable to congestion. The Prayagraj Metro system would introduce speed, reliability, affordability, efficiency and predictability into the city’s transport ecosystem.
For the common man, the metro system could reduce travel time significantly. For instance, the travelling time from Shantipuram to Cheoki or from Jhusi to Bamrauli that presently take approximately 45-60 minutes could be shortened to 20-30 minutes. This would not improve convenience, comfort and passenger safety but it would also translate to better work-life balance, productivity and reduced transportation costs over time.
Infrastructure projects of this magnitude could act as powerful catalysts for economic growth. For instance, it could help in the creation of thousands of direct as well as indirect jobs. Also, it could redefine real estate development in the city of Prayagraj.
Moreover, metro links between Jhusi, Bamrauli, Shantipuram and Cheoki could help in attracting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that benefit from lower land costs compared to central Prayagraj. It could also help these areas emerge as viable residential alternatives for middle-income families, driving demand for housing, retail and educational institutions.
