A Prayagraj viral video is making headlines after a police officer was seen performing a unique ritual inside his flood-hit home. The video, now all over social media, shows Sub-Inspector Chandradeep Nishad of Uttar Pradesh Police offering milk to the floodwater, treating it as the presence of Mother Ganga.
What This Prayagraj Viral Video Shows?
In the video from Daraganj locality of Prayagraj, Nishad is seen barefoot, with folded pants, carrying a pot of milk. He pours the milk into the water and chants, “Jai Ganga Maiya ki, main dhanya ho gaya ki aap mere darbar pe aashirwad dene aaye.” He also throws flowers into the floodwater as part of a Hindu ritual called abhishek, where milk is offered to deities.
The officer is currently posted as a PSO (Personal Security Officer) to a judge of the Allahabad High Court. His house nameplate in the video reads “Nishad Raj Bhavan, Mori, Daraganj, Prayagraj.”
Another Clip Shows Him Taking A Dip Inside Flood Water
Another video shared by Nishad shows him taking a dip inside his flooded home. He captioned it, “Today, Mother Ganga fully entered my home. I took a dip of faith inside my house. Jai Ganga Maiya!” The videos were posted on his Instagram account, where he has around 15,000 followers.

While many found the Prayagraj viral video touching and spiritual, others raised concerns. Some praised Nishad for showing faith even in disaster. A user wrote, “This is how belief turns tough times into prayers.”
Others felt it was insensitive, given the damage floods are causing across Uttar Pradesh. One user commented, “When Ganga enters a poor man\’s house, it’s a disaster, not a blessing.” Another added, “We are too used to adjusting with pain and calling it divine. That’s the real problem.”
The video comes at a time when several areas in Prayagraj, including Daraganj, Rajapur, Salori, and Sadar, are underwater. Heavy rain has caused the Ganga and Yamuna to cross danger levels.
Over 1,400 people from 339 families have been moved to safer places. Around 4,000 residents are currently in 14 government-run relief camps. Rescue teams are using boats, and authorities are distributing food and medicines.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has activated Team-11 to handle the flood crisis in 12 affected districts. In Prayagraj, Minister Nand Gopal Gupta is leading the response.
