The death of a disciple at Premanand Maharaj ashram in Mathura has prompted a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the rules governing mobile phone use and communication with people outside the ashram.
Rasik Dulari, a disciple at the ashram, died on September 25 after falling from the fourth floor of the premises. While the initial police investigation treated the incident as a suspected suicide, investigators are examining several aspects of his life and activities before his death.

Police Examine Ashram’s Mobile Phone Rules
According to police sources cited in the report, disciples or seekers at the ashram were allegedly required to surrender their personal mobile phones after joining. They were reportedly provided with new phones and SIM cards by the ashram.
Investigators are examining how these phones were used, whether communication was monitored or recorded and where information concerning the disciples’ devices and previous contacts was maintained.
Restrictions on Outside Communication Under Probe
Police are also looking into the extent to which disciples were able to communicate with their families and old friends. Sources cited in the report said communication with people outside the ashram was limited and, in some cases, allegedly prohibited.
Investigators are examining whether such restrictions resulted in disciples becoming isolated from their previous social circles and whether Rasik Dulari had opportunities to communicate openly with people who knew him before he joined the ashram.
Rasik Dulari’s Mental and Physical State Examined
Another key aspect of the investigation is Rasik Dulari’s mental and physical condition before his death. Police are examining his earlier life, behaviour and possible signs of mental stress or depression.
Investigators are also examining his old mobile phone, the new SIM card, call detail records, chats and other digital evidence to establish who he communicated with during his final days. Statements from his family and close associates have also been recorded as part of the probe.
Police Record Statements of 85 People
Mathura Police have so far recorded the statements of 85 people in connection with the case. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the death, the disciple’s daily routine at the ashram and his social and digital interactions.
